The Graduate Division publishes a quarterly newsletter with timely information for all faculty who teach, mentor, or supervise PhD students at UCSF.

  • Summer 2020: In a summer that will go down in the history books, we focused on giving faculty resources to create a more inclusive and supportive environment across the graduate programs, and on helping you access resources for the transition to online instruction.
  • Spring 2020: Published just before the Coronavirus hit the fan, this issue looked at the 2020 Grad Slam finalists and commencement, which were later cancelled, as well as reminding faculty to urge sick students to stay at home. Also covered: promoting student mental health, nominations for mentorship award, and a reminder about mentoring resources. 
  • Winter 2019: Town hall event to focus on alumni career outcomes and MIND career exploration program, nominations open March 1 for Dean's Awards for Excellence in Mentoring for Graduate Students and Postdocs, online resources for faculty, Student Food Market opening at Mission Bay, Grad Slam reminder
  • Fall 2019: Gender Equity Taskforce, F-awards advisory, Graduate Division staff updates, fall events, Regeneron Prize, first generation to college mentors sought
  • Summer 2019: Mentoring awards, commencement, new website for faculty, new Graduate Division site, faculty housing opportunities, UCSF prize winner at system-wide Grad Slam.  
  • Spring 2019: Promoting student mental health, new Graduate Division Dean's Awards honoring students and postdocs as mentors, new postdoc website launched
  • Winter 2018: Student of Concern Committee, Postdoc of Concern Committee, encouraging students to enter Grad Slam, hiring a postdoc, students publish paper on getting more out of meetings with their mentors in Nature
  • Fall 2018: Graduate Division Fall Celebration, National Postdoc Appreciation Week, Postdoc Slam, new online approval process for academic petitions, opening of Student Services at Mission Bay
  • Spring 2018: commencement, ASGD mentorship survey, basic needs and food security for students
  • Winter 2018: promoting student mental health, supporting DACA students
  • Fall 2017: primer on student funding, contacts in Grad Div
